About Chef Reto Biaggi
Cooking is Reto’s passion. In fact, he’s been involved in professional kitchens since the age of 14. At the spry age of 12, Reto decided to become a chef and his father sent him on his way to reaching that goal by having him work in a restaurant kitchen every summer growing up.
Reto was born in Bern, Switzerland, where his mother worked as a Service Manager for the five star Du Theatre Hotel. Her love of entertaining always involved Reto scurrying around at the parties she frequently hosted at their home. He quickly became familiar around the kitchen.
International travel began early for Reto, as his family moved to France when he was still a child. Because his parents had a deep love for travel, Reto was fortunate to be able to eat at a wide variety of excellent restaurants. He was also exposed to sophisticated dining around the world in his teen years, which naturally set his culinary standards high.
Reto attended and graduated from Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland, the world’s premier hospitality management school, and he holds a business degree from the University of Lausanne as well. His international work experience includes the Plaza Athenee Hotel in Paris, The Bath Hotel in England, Disneyland Hotel in Paris, The Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto and more. In Greensboro, Reto has worked at Green Valley Grill as well as The Grandover Resort.
Reto has been a personal chef since 2004 and he says it is “without a doubt, the happiest and most fulfilled I have ever been.”
He and his wife Emmy, who was born and raised in Greensboro, currently live in Greensboro and have two children, Claire and Alexander.
